We are here to offer some self-care tricks and treats for October. Self-care activities differ from person to person. Self-care can include doing things that make us feel good and improve our health. It can include things like taking a walk around the block, listening to uplifting music, or spending time with a friend. It’s in those small, powerful moments that you are consciously taking care of yourself, and taking action for your happiness. Self-care doesn’t have to take a long time. We offer many activities to help with this in our book Empower Trip.
We encourage you to find your inner star power. To do this, finding the courage to focus on taking care of yourself is a major part of finding your power. Consider starting this process by doing an activity from the book such as Joy List where you decide what brings joy to your life, and what self-care means to you. Once you decide what your self-care routines can include, you may want to look at activities in Empower Trip. For example, Nurture Nature would be great if you enjoy things such as gardening. Play Days is also suggested so you can take time to do fun things and play. Your self-care practices may change and evolve over time. You may enjoy trying new things as you learn about self-care, such as the activity Do New and Do Now encourages.
The most important thing to remember is to set aside time for self-care, even if it’s only a few moments. Practicing self-care is proven to decrease stress and that’s why it’s instrumental to healing, and can strengthen our immune system. Self-care can awaken your happiness, increase your motivation, and increase self-esteem. To learn about additional resources for self-care, check out our Resources page. By October 31st we challenge you to treat yourself to self-care, and the reward will be as sweet as a Halloween treat.
